Limi Browser Companion Extension · Last updated: 2026-07-20
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how the “Limi Browser Companion” Chrome extension (“the Extension”) handles data. The Extension is developed by Limi AI.
The Extension is a companion tool that connects the Chrome browser with the Limi desktop application running on your local computer. It enables login-state synchronization and browser automation under the control of the local Limi desktop app.
The Extension does NOT collect, transmit, or sell your personal data to any remote server. All data exchange happens locally between Chrome and the Limi desktop application via Chrome's Native Messaging mechanism.
2. Data Accessed and How It Is Used
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions, each used solely to support features requested by the local Limi desktop application:
| Permission | Accesses | Why needed | Where data goes |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookies | Cookie values | Sync login state with desktop app | Local desktop app only via IPC |
| tabs | Tab URLs, titles | Multi-tab automation workflows | Local desktop app only |
| activeTab | Current active tab | Perform actions on current page | Local desktop app only |
| scripting | Inject scripts into pages | Data extraction, form filling | Scripts from local app, no remote code |
| debugger | Chrome DevTools Protocol | DOM inspection, console, network | Exchanged with local app only |
| nativeMessaging | Local IPC channel | Core communication with desktop app | Data never leaves local machine |
| <all_urls> | All websites | 50+ channel automation, cannot enumerate | Access only when app requests specific site |
3. Data Storage
- The Extension does not persistently store browsing data, cookies, or page content.
- Cookie change events are forwarded to the local desktop app in real time and not retained beyond the session.
- CDP event buffers are kept in memory only and cleared when the tab is closed.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
- The Extension does not share data with any third party.
- The Extension does not include advertising or analytics SDKs.
- The Extension does not transmit data to any remote server.
5. User Control
- The Extension operates only when the Limi desktop application is running and connected.
- You can disable or remove the Extension at any time via chrome://extensions.
- You can revoke specific site access via Chrome's extension permission controls.
- If the desktop app is not running, the Extension remains idle.
6. Security
- Communication uses Chrome Native Messaging, a local IPC mechanism that does not traverse the network.
- The Extension does not load or execute remotely-hosted code. All logic is packaged within the Extension.
7. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
